Art workshops
Growing up on a farm in Indiana has given me a love of nature and the beauty of the land.  This has been the inspiration for many of my oil and pastel landscapes.  The balance, rhythm, color and light of the seasons find their way into my paintings.
I also enjoy figurative, urban, and garden scenes and subjects inspired by my travels to the southwest, the east coast, and Europe.
I hope to give the viewer a heightened awareness of the beauty of the world around us.
The greatest compliment is when someone sees my painting and says, “I feel this place”.

Artist Statement
"Nature's Christmas Tree"
oil painting
The late evening sun shining on this little spruce tree in my yard drew me to it. The shadows on the snow made it irresistible.
"New Harmony Spring"
New Harmony, Indiana is beautiful in the spring. This entrance to the Roofless Church was especially pretty with all the crabapple trees in bloom.
"Prairie Flowers Waving in the Breeze"
16x20 oil painting
In Indiana the uncultivated fields are often full of prairie flowers in late summer. This one was especially beautiful waving in the breeze of a windy day.
"Snow on the Whitewater
I have painted the Whitewater River near my home in Indiana in all seasons. The winter is my favorite.
"Sunflower Bouquet"
11x14 pastel
These sunflowers were in a hotel in Albuquerque. The back lighting drew me in and I had to ask permission to set up and paint them.
"Through the Dunes"
11x14 pastel
The Sand Dunes on South Padre Island make a great subject to paint.
"Whitewater River in the Fall"
14x11 oil
The Whitewater River near Brookeville, Indiana is beautiful in the fall with the reflections in the clear water.
"Windmill and Sunflowers"
My neighbors sunflowers waving in the summer breeze caught my attention. The windmill in the background made the perfect composition for this painting.
"Winter in the Corn Belt"
9x12 pastel
The harvested cornfields around my home, especially when covered by a new layer of snow, are one of my favorite subjects.
14x11 oil
These zinnias were blooming in my garden. A perfect place to sit and paint and listen to nature.
"Prairie Land"
The beautiful prairie land and farm land in central Indiana in late summer. So happy to have this beauty close to me.
The neighbors just finished harvesting this cornfield. I just hoped they didn’t move the wagon and truck before I finished the painting.
