Artist Statement
I have been painting and drawing for over 25 years, including 18 years as a graphic artist/designer.
A variety of creative projects have enriched my artistic skills throughout my art career.
Even though I still paint studio work, I get most of my enjoyment from painting outdoors. I feel so inspired when I am surrounded by mother nature and the challenges she brings. I am very proud when people walk by and see my painting in progress and ask many questions of the painting process. If I am not painting with my group of the Ocala Plein Air Painters, I am usually painting from aboard my pontoon
boat. I am fascinated by the waters and the beautiful colors around me that mother nature displays.
I am obsessed with wanting to paint all that I see and want others to see this also.
There is nothing more fascinating and rewarding than a finished painting that was painted on location.

Education:
I have formal art education from Old Dominion University, Sulfolk, VA. Central Florida Community College, University of Florida and I have AA Degree from Central Texas College, Killeen, TX. I am Graduate from the North Light Art School, offered by the North Light Art Books and the Artists Magazine and have taken various art seminars/workshops throughout the United States and while stationed overseas to include plein air paintouts and seminars.
Volunteer Services:
Designed and donated the logo for 24hrs In The Life of Ocala, a project of CFCC-Brick City Center
for the Arts, Volunteered in the design and painting of the Integrity Mural (6’x12’), a project of the
Webber Center of CFCC, Ocala Fl.. Painted Mural for All About Art Gallery, Belleview, Fl., Donated
a painting to the Villages Arts Assoc. as an auction item for a college scholarship fundraiser. The Villages, Fl., Art donation to the Fine Arts For Ocala for benefit auction.

Honors and Activities:
I am a recipient of numerous awards and honors from honorable mention to first place for my artwork.
I also won a Logo Design contest for the Port Folio Environmental Awards in Norfolk, VA., was awarded
the Ralph and Charlotte Margolius Art Scholarship and was on the Dean’s List in the College of Arts and
Letters at Old Dominion University. I was awarded the People’s Choice Award (1st Place) at the Villages
Art Around the Square Dec 7, 2003, Second Place at the Villages Art Around the Square March. 14, 2004,
Awarded the Best of Show at the Marion County Growth Management Bureau Art Contest April 17, 2007,
Recieved the Award of Merit at the Gainesville Fine Arts Association Oak Hall Art Festival May 5th, 2007,
Invited as a guest artist for the Gallery East of Ocala Florida March 2008, and participate in many art
festivals in which I sell my plein air paintings.
